JESSICA WILSON BIO
Nata nella Contea di Bedfordshire nel 1986, Jessica Wilson studia prima presso l’University College Falmouth, sezione Fine Art, quindi alla scuola d’arte sperimentale nell’East London Turps Banana Painting Program. Co-fonda e dirige, nel 2013, The Juncture, iniziativa che incoraggia il dialogo artistico in uno spazio tra studio e galleria. Finalista nel 2015 della Discerning Eye Drawing Bursary, nello stesso anno partecipa alla mostra bipersonale Lonely Long Feett, Standpoint, Londra. Nel 2016 inizia a frequentare un master alla Glasgow School of Art, dove sviluppa pienamente il suo linguaggio segnico minimalista e colorista. Partecipa a numerose mostre fra Londra e Glasgow, curando nel 2017 Steal the Show a Bentinck Street, Glasgow.
Al 2017 risale la mostra personale Mary, Blinky, Jessica, Yay! alla Gerald Moore Gallery e il primo incontro con la Galleria d’Arte Niccoli: le immagini social dei lavori dell’artista scozzese compaiono spesso suggerite nel feed del profilo della galleria e così dove non arriva il fato arriva l’incrocio di dati di un algoritmo. Da questa reiterata proposta visiva nasce l’idea di un contatto, il primo viaggio a Glasgow, l’acquisizione di una mostra e successivamente di un corposo blocco di opere da parte della Galleria Niccoli, dando vita a un sodalizio che dura ormai da più di cinque anni.
